Water Supply Disruption in Hyderabad on Thursday

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has announced that drinking water supply will be disrupted in various parts of the city on Thursday due to essential maintenance work. The affected areas span across multiple zones, including residential and commercial localities.

The water supply interruption is necessitated by repairs to the Non-Return Valve (NRV) at the Kodandapur pump house, which is part of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phase-II. This maintenance activity is critical to ensuring the long-term reliability and efficiency of the city’s water distribution system.

Residents and businesses in the following areas will experience a disruption in water supply: Chilkalguda, NPA, Barkas, Balapur, Lalapet, Bhojagutta, Allabanda, Mekalamandi, Bholakpur, Mir Alam, Maisaram, Tarnaka, and Bouddhanagar. Additionally, the water supply will be interrupted in Marredpally, Patigadda, Gautamnagar, Hasmathpet, Vaishalinagar, Alkapuri Colony, MES, Cantonment, Prakashnagar, Habsiguda, Mahendra Hills, and Ferozeguda.

Further affected areas include Uppal, Vanasthalipuram, Elugutta, Autonagar, Chilkanagar, Shastripuram, Ramantapur, Beerappagadda, Meerpet, Nacharam, BN Reddy Nagar, Budwel, Badangpet, and Shamshabad.

The HMWSSB has issued a press release advising residents in the impacted zones to store adequate water in advance to mitigate inconvenience during the outage. The board has also assured the public that every effort is being made to complete the repairs swiftly and restore normal water supply as soon as possible.

The disruption comes at a critical time as Hyderabad faces increasing demand for water due to its growing population and expanding urban infrastructure. The HMWSSB’s maintenance activities are part of ongoing efforts to modernise and enhance the city’s water supply network, which includes regular inspections and timely repairs of key components.

Despite the temporary inconvenience, these measures are essential to prevent larger-scale breakdowns and ensure a consistent supply of potable water to all parts of the city. The HMWSSB has also emphasised the importance of public cooperation during these maintenance activities, urging residents to use water judiciously and report any leaks or issues immediately to the authorities.

The municipal corporation is working in coordination with various departments to minimise the impact of the disruption. Water tankers will be deployed in critical areas to provide emergency water supply to households and businesses that may face acute shortages.

In light of the scheduled maintenance, the HMWSSB advises residents to follow updates through official channels and helplines. The board remains committed to improving the city’s water infrastructure and ensuring the sustainable management of water resources.

As Hyderabad continues to grow, the need for a robust and reliable water supply system becomes increasingly paramount. The HMWSSB’s proactive approach in maintaining and upgrading the water distribution network is a vital component of the city’s overall urban development strategy.
