Utran Railway Station Works Cancel MEMU Trains, Delay Express Services

Utran railway station works will disrupt train services on the Surat–Vadodara section, with the Bharuch–Surat MEMU cancelled on October 8, 9 and 13 and several long-distance trains regulated or delayed. Rail passengers have been advised to check updated train status before travelling.

The disruption is linked to yard remodelling and electronic interlocking work to develop Utran as a satellite station. Railway authorities are taking traffic blocks in phases to carry out the work while managing train operations through the station.

On October 8, traffic regulation at Utran will be in place from 11.50 am to 1.50 pm. Train number 69198, the Bharuch–Surat MEMU, will remain fully cancelled that day. The railway has also said that affected services may be delayed or regulated during the work.

A similar two-hour traffic regulation is scheduled for October 9, from 11.50 am to 1.50 pm. The Bharuch–Surat MEMU will again be cancelled. Other trains listed for regulation or delay on that day include train number 12656, Chennai Central–Ahmedabad; train number 00908, Santragachi–Kakinada Port parcel train; train number 09207, Bandra Terminus–Bhavnagar; train number 12471, Bandra Terminus–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra; and train number 19015, Dadar–Porbandar.

On October 13, the traffic regulation window will extend from 11.50 am to 2.50 pm, a period of up to three hours. The Bharuch–Surat MEMU will be cancelled on this date as well. Across the affected services, delays and operational controls may range from 10 minutes to two and a half hours, according to the details reported by the railway authorities.

Separate work at the passenger yard of Jharsuguda, under the South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur Division, will also affect some long-distance trains passing through the Ahmedabad Division. The scheduled runs of the Porbandar–Santragachi Express services, train numbers 12949 and 12950, and the Okha–Shalimar Express services, train numbers 22905 and 22906, have been cancelled between December 11 and 15.

The cancellations and delays arise from non-interlocking work during the remodelling of the Jharsuguda passenger yard. Non-interlocking operations require changes to train movements while railway infrastructure and signalling arrangements are modified.

The Utran project is intended to increase train-handling capacity and improve operational efficiency by developing the station as a satellite facility. The work includes yard remodelling and installation of an electronic interlocking system. Railway officials have advised passengers to check the latest service status before booking tickets or beginning their journey, as operational changes are linked to specific work windows and train runs.
