Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has announced a three-stage property tax penalty waiver scheme for the 2026 Ganesh festival period, offering residents up to 100% relief on delayed-payment penalties if they clear their outstanding property tax along with the current year’s dues within specified dates.
The civic body announced the scheme, titled the Shri Ganeshotsav 2026 Special Concession Scheme, through a press release issued by its Information and Public Relations Department on 10 September 2026. The scheme applies to property tax arrears for the financial year 2026-27 and is intended to increase municipal revenue collection while reducing the penalty burden on taxpayers.
Under the first stage, residents who pay their entire outstanding property tax and current tax in a single payment between 12 September and 20 September 2026 will receive a 100% waiver on the delayed-payment penalty imposed on the arrears.
The second stage will run from 21 September to 28 September. During this period, property owners must pay the full arrears and current tax, along with 25% of the applicable penalty, in a single payment. The remaining 75% of the delayed-payment penalty will then be waived under the scheme.
The third stage will operate from 29 September to 5 October. Residents who pay the outstanding tax, current tax and 50% of the applicable penalty in one instalment will receive a waiver on the remaining 50% of the penalty.
The corporation has structured the scheme to provide the highest relief to taxpayers who settle their dues during the earliest payment window. The announcement does not state that the underlying property tax arrears or current tax liability will be waived; the concession applies to the delayed-payment penalty, subject to the payment conditions and dates specified by the corporation.
Municipal public relations officer Prajakta Kulkarni appealed to property-tax defaulters across the city to make use of the scheme. The civic administration also urged residents to pay their outstanding property tax on time and said that the payments would support the corporation’s development works.
The scheme places the payment deadline at 5 October 2026, after which the corporation’s announcement does not specify whether any further concession will be available. Residents seeking to use the waiver will need to complete the required single-payment conditions during the relevant stage.
