Turbhe Flyover in Navi Mumbai is set to be demolished and rebuilt after repeated repair work failed to resolve problems on the key Sion–Panvel Highway link, according to a report by Loksatta. The decision has been taken by the Public Works Department (PWD), which plans to remove the existing structure and begin construction of a new flyover at the site.

The flyover connects the Sanpada–Turbhe area and carries traffic between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Panvel. The existing flyover was built in the 1990s and was reportedly opened to traffic around 1994. Problems with its construction quality were raised repeatedly after it was commissioned. A major defect was reportedly identified within about a decade of the flyover’s construction.
