Traffic Regulations Enforced During Chilavannoor Bund Road Bridge Reconstruction

In a bid to facilitate the ongoing reconstruction of the Chilavannoor Bund Road Bridge, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has implemented stringent traffic regulations, effective as of Wednesday.

The initiative aims to streamline vehicular movement and ensure the smooth progression of construction activities over the next two weeks. Under the imposed restrictions, access to the bridge is limited exclusively to two-wheelers and essential services, notably ambulances. Commuters traveling from the Chilavannoor side toward Thaikudam are advised to reroute via Chilavannoor Road, Sahodaran Ayyappan Road, and Janatha Road. Furthermore, KMRL recommends heavy vehicles to traverse KP Vallon Road towards Chilavannoor, thereby alleviating congestion and optimising traffic flow.

Conversely, motorists approaching from the Thaikudam side are directed to utilise Sahodaran Ayyappan Road and Janatha Road or the Bypass to access Chilavannoor. KMRL assures that these traffic diversions will persist until the culmination of the construction endeavour, ensuring minimal disruption to commuters while facilitating the timely completion of the bridge overhaul. The proactive measures undertaken by KMRL underscore their commitment to efficient urban infrastructure management and public safety. By orchestrating strategic traffic regulations, the organisation endeavours to mitigate congestion, enhance commuter experience, and uphold operational excellence amid infrastructural redevelopment initiatives.
