Traffic Chaos in Gurugram Due to Encroachment

Residents of BPTP Freedom Park Life, located in Sector 57 of Gurugram, have voiced growing frustration over rampant encroachments and severe traffic congestion plaguing the service lane leading to their condominium’s entrance. Their concerns have been formally communicated to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), and the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).

According to residents, unauthorised vendors have taken over this vital access road near the Tigra Village Samaspur crossing. The encroachments include a variety of informal businesses such as tea stalls, cigarette shops, an eatery, and a cloth ironing kiosk. The proliferation of these vendors has exacerbated traffic bottlenecks, turning what should be a straightforward access route into a frustrating daily ordeal. “We are a community of nearly 1,000 residents spread across 400 flats. The service lane connecting our society gate to the main road has become a chaotic mess,” stated a resident from Tower B. “What began as a few vendors has now escalated into a larger problem. Rumours suggest that some of these vendors have backing from local influential figures, which only complicates the situation further.”

Despite numerous complaints to the GMDA, residents report a lack of action to address these encroachments or alleviate the traffic congestion. “The situation poses a significant security risk. Many children and women traverse this road, and the presence of undesirable elements loitering around these stalls is concerning,” the resident added. The community is calling for urgent intervention to address these issues and restore order to the area. In response, the MCG Commissioner has assured residents that the matter will be investigated. “We will deploy a team to assess the situation and identify any encroachments. Prompt action will be taken to remove these obstructions and restore the intended use of public spaces,” the Commissioner stated. The residents remain hopeful that the authorities will act swiftly to resolve the issues, improving both safety and accessibility in their neighbourhood.
