Tourism Minister Urges Urgent Action to Complete Infrastructure Projects in Lucknow
Uttar Pradesh’s growing tourism sector, State Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh has directed officials to accelerate the completion of infrastructure projects in Lucknow and other parts of the state. This initiative comes as part of the government’s efforts to bolster the region’s tourism and economic growth.
During a recent review meeting, Singh underscored the importance of adhering to timelines for tourism infrastructure projects. He stressed that strict action would be taken against officials who fail to meet deadlines or cause delays. Singh also pointed out that the executing agencies must ensure that all projects are implemented strictly according to the approved designs. This includes a focus on specific aspects such as the installation of rough-textured tiles or stones on the Kamadgiri Parikrama route, a major religious and cultural site in the state. The government’s commitment to ensuring quality and timely execution of these projects reflects the growing importance of tourism as a major contributor to the state’s economy. Singh also took a close look at the progress of historical documentation of key tourist destinations across Uttar Pradesh. This includes documenting the historical significance, accessibility, infrastructure facilities, and the popularity of key sites in the 12 tourism circuits across the state. These initiatives are expected to give a deeper insight into the rich heritage of Uttar Pradesh and provide tourists with more accessible and organised information.
One of the central goals of these efforts is to improve the state’s tourism offerings and enhance the experience for both domestic and international tourists. By ensuring better connectivity, infrastructure, and detailed records of tourist sites, the government is working to promote Uttar Pradesh as a global tourism hub. The push for better infrastructure comes alongside efforts to raise Uttar Pradesh’s profile on the international tourism stage. Singh emphasised the need for the state to maintain a strong presence at major international travel events. In particular, preparations for the Berlin Travel Mart, scheduled for March 4-6, and the Russia Travel Mart, scheduled for March 18-20, are in full swing. These travel marts provide an excellent opportunity for the state to attract international tourists and investors, boosting Uttar Pradesh’s tourism industry further. Singh’s directives come at a crucial time as the state looks to position itself as a top-tier tourism destination, both for spiritual seekers and cultural enthusiasts. To this end, the development work at key sites like the Maa Vindhyavasini corridor, Ayodhya, Braj region, Chitrakoot dham, and others, is a focal point for the tourism department.
The development of these tourism circuits is not only expected to increase the number of visitors but also improve the local economy by creating jobs and fostering sustainable growth in the region. The ongoing work on the Naimisharanya development councils and other projects further underscores the state’s commitment to making Uttar Pradesh a key destination for spiritual and cultural tourism. The state’s tourism and culture department, led by Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meshram, has been actively overseeing these projects. Through video conferencing, Meshram provided updates on the progress of the department’s activities and issued directives to ensure that all preparations are completed on time. Uttar Pradesh’s tourism sector is undergoing a major transformation, and with a clear focus on infrastructure development, the state is poised to attract both domestic and international tourists in greater numbers. By accelerating the completion of pending projects, ensuring quality in execution, and preparing for key international events, Uttar Pradesh is taking significant steps towards becoming a global tourism powerhouse.
