A Central Railway traffic and power block at Titwala station will disrupt suburban and long-distance train services between September 2 and 8, with night locals cancelled between Titwala and Kasara and several express trains rescheduled, as work continues to extend the platform for 15-coach local trains.
The second phase of the 15-day block will operate daily from midnight to 5 am on both up and down lines. The broader work period runs from August 28 to September 11, with blocks of about five to six hours scheduled between 11.30 pm and 5.10 am. During the full work period, local trains terminating at Titwala will run up to Asangaon, while services originating at Titwala will depart from Asangaon.
No suburban service will be available between Titwala and Kasara during the September 2-8 phase. Among the cancelled services are the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Titwala and CSMT-Kasara locals scheduled to leave at 10 pm, 10.47 pm, 10.50 pm and 12.08 am. The Thane-Titwala local scheduled for 5.35 am will also be cancelled. In the opposite direction, services from Titwala to CSMT at 6.13 am, 9 am and 10.06 am are among those affected.
Some daytime and evening services will also be short-terminated between September 3 and 9. The 6.30 am CSMT-Titwala and 3.33 pm Dadar-Titwala air-conditioned locals will run only up to Thane. The CSMT-Titwala services scheduled at 11.24 am and 1.42 pm will also terminate at Thane. The 9.27 am and 7.46 pm CSMT-Titwala locals will run only up to Kalyan. Selected services from Titwala towards CSMT will originate from Thane or Kalyan instead.
The block will also change the last and first available services for passengers travelling towards the Kasara corridor. The last pre-block CSMT-Kasara local will leave at 9.32 pm, while the last CSMT-Titwala local will depart at 9.20 pm. After the block, the first Kasara-bound service will leave at 4.29 am instead of its scheduled 4.19 am departure.
Several mail and express trains will be affected by the overnight work. The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Patliputra, LTT-Puri, LTT-Bhubaneswar, LTT-Hatia, LTT-Visakhapatnam, CSMT-Amritsar and CSMT-Banaras trains have been rescheduled between approximately 4 am and 4.45 am. Several trains approaching Dadar, LTT and CSMT will be held between Vasind, Atgaon, Khardi, Kasara and Igatpuri. The affected services include the Punjab Mail, Deogiri Express, Mangaladweep Express, Duronto Express, Nandigram Express and Gyaneshwari Express.
Central Railway said the platform extension is being undertaken to enable the operation of 15-coach local trains at Titwala and that the block is necessary to create safe and capable railway infrastructure. The administration has advised passengers to check the revised timetable before travelling during the affected period.
