Central Railway will impose a one-hour-and-30-minute special traffic and power block at Titwala between 12.45 am and 2.15 am on September 18 for points tamping work, disrupting suburban services between Kasara and Kalyan and resulting in the cancellation of four local trains.
During the block, suburban train operations between Kasara and Kalyan will remain suspended. Two other services will operate only up to Thane instead of completing their scheduled journeys to or from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), according to the details reported by Loksatta – Mumbai.
The four cancelled services include the local departing from CSMT for Titwala at 11.16 pm and another departing at 11.42 pm. On the return route, the Titwala-to-Thane locals scheduled to leave at 10.25 pm and 11.14 pm have also been cancelled.
The service changes will also affect trains originating from Dombivli and Kalyan. The local scheduled to leave Dombivli for CSMT at 10 pm will run only up to Thane. Similarly, the local departing from Kalyan for CSMT at 10.06 pm will also terminate at Thane during the affected operating period.
Central Railway has listed the last services scheduled before the block begins. The last local from CSMT towards Kasara will depart at 12.08 am, while the last local from CSMT towards Titwala will leave at 10.50 pm. In the opposite direction, the last Kasara-to-CSMT local will depart at 10 pm.
Passengers travelling from the wider Kasara and Asangaon belt will also need to account for the revised late-night timetable. The last local from Asangaon towards Thane is scheduled to leave at 11.08 pm before the block begins.
The work is focused on tamping points at Titwala station, an activity involving track infrastructure used to guide trains between railway lines. The temporary suspension and service short-turning have been scheduled to create the operating window for the maintenance work. Central Railway’s announced timetable will remain applicable for the affected late-night services on September 18.
