Tirupati Zoo Entry Fees Rise, Family Visits Get Costlier

Tirupati Zoo entry fees for adults, children and four-wheelers have increased, making visits to Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park more expensive for families from Tirupati and other districts. The revised rates came into effect on Wednesday following approval by the 16th governing body meeting of the Zoo Authority of Andhra Pradesh.

The adult entry fee has risen from ₹70 to ₹100, while the fee for children has increased from ₹30 to ₹50. The children’s tariff, therefore, has gone up by ₹20, or about 67 per cent. Charges for four-wheelers have been raised from ₹750 to ₹1,000. The cloakroom fee has also increased from ₹10 to ₹15 per bag.

Based on the revised tariffs, a family of two adults and two children arriving in a four-wheeler will pay ₹1,300 for entry tickets and vehicle charges. The same visit would have cost ₹890 under the earlier rates, excluding cloakroom charges. The increase comes before visitors account for transport, food and other expenses associated with a day trip to the wildlife park.

Zoo officials said the additional revenue would be used for animal care, nutritious feed, veterinary services, enclosure maintenance and visitor amenities. The fee revision was approved by the Zoo Authority of Andhra Pradesh’s governing body, which oversees the park’s administration and financial decisions.

The higher vehicle charge has also been justified as a traffic-management measure. Zoo authorities said the revised tariff is intended to regulate vehicle movement inside the premises and reduce noise and air pollution. The change affects visitors who choose to drive into the park, while families arriving through other modes will not face the vehicle-entry increase.

The revised children’s fee has drawn concern because the zoo is also an important destination for wildlife education and conservation awareness. M. Sai Prasanna, identified as a frequent visitor, said the zoo should have considered keeping children’s tickets affordable. The higher charge may particularly affect families travelling from outside Tirupati, who already incur expenses on transport and meals.

The zoo authority has retained a concessional entry fee of ₹10 per child for government school students. Officials said the concession is intended to support educational visits and encourage awareness of wildlife conservation among schoolchildren. The revised general tariffs will continue to apply to other visitors under the new fee structure.
