Passengers travelling on the busy suburban and regional rail corridor linking northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh will continue to experience altered train operations for another week, as railway authorities extend temporary terminal changes affecting four MEMU passenger services connected to Tirupati. The move keeps Tiruchanur functioning as the operational endpoint for selected services until June 6, reflecting ongoing infrastructure-related adjustments in one of the region’s most heavily used commuter rail networks.
The extension affects daily passengers travelling between Arakkonam, Chennai and the Tirupati region, a corridor that supports a mix of workers, students, small traders and pilgrims. Under the revised arrangement, two services that normally originate from Tirupati will instead commence journeys from Tiruchanur, while two others will terminate there rather than reaching the main Tirupati station.Railway officials indicated that the temporary operational pattern is intended to facilitate ongoing works and improve traffic management within the Tirupati rail section.
