Thane Fire Guts Shop, Damages Power Distribution Point Near Talao Pali

A Thane fire damaged the Preeti Sandwich shop and an adjacent Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) distribution point near Talao Pali in Naupada, Thane West, on Tuesday evening. No injuries were reported, according to the fire department account cited by Mid-Day.

The fire department received information about the blaze at 8.07 pm. The fire broke out at Preeti Sandwich, located next to Chintamani Jewellers near Talao Pali. The shop is owned by Harish Gupta.

The blaze also affected MSEDCL’s distribution point, identified in the report as DP No. The sandwich shop and the distribution point were completely gutted. The front portion of the neighbouring New Naik Gift Shop, owned by Bharat Chawla, was also damaged.

Firefighters and civic and police personnel reached the site after the fire was reported. Two fire vehicles and one rescue vehicle were deployed for the operation. Firefighters from Jawahar Bagh fire station, led by station officer Pashte, took part in bringing the blaze under control.

According to the fire department, the fire was brought under control and completely extinguished at around 8.50 pm, less than an hour after the initial call. Naupada police officers and personnel, MSEDCL employees, and staff from the Naupada-Kopri ward committee’s encroachment department were also present at the site.

Naupada-Kopri ward committee chairperson Meenal Sankhe and local representatives Sudhir Kokate and Sanjay Waghule attended the scene along with disaster management officials. The response involved fire services, the electricity utility, municipal ward staff, police and disaster management personnel.

The fire department report did not immediately state the cause of the blaze. It also did not provide details on the extent of any disruption caused by the damage to the MSEDCL distribution point. Further assessment of the affected electrical infrastructure and neighbouring premises was not detailed in the report.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The fire department’s next steps, including any formal determination of the cause and the restoration or replacement status of the damaged distribution point, were not immediately stated.
