The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is developing modern bus stands at 13 locations across Telangana, combining passenger facilities with shops, food courts, business complexes and entertainment zones. Construction has already begun at four sites, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
The planned bus stands are located at Nagarkurnool, Regonda, Huzurnagar, Kodad, Kodangal, Kosgi, Maddur, Kesamudram, Husnabad, Mulugu, Madhira, Nalgonda and Kothagudem. The initiative is part of TGSRTC’s efforts to modernise public transport facilities across the state.
Construction is currently under way at Kodangal, Maddur, Kosgi and Husnabad. The corporation has not disclosed a completion timeline for these four projects or the remaining nine locations in the information available.
The proposed facilities will include waiting halls and other passenger amenities intended to make bus journeys more comfortable. Commercial spaces for shops, food outlets and business activities are also planned within the bus stand developments, allowing passengers to access food and shopping services while they wait for buses.
TGSRTC has said that businesspeople interested in taking shops or other commercial spaces at the new bus stands can approach the corporation’s management directly. The planned commercial component is expected to create space for local businesses and vendors, including those selling food and local produce.
The locations span rural and smaller urban centres, where bus stands often serve as more than transport facilities. They function as points of access to education, healthcare, markets and employment in areas with fewer formal commercial and public-service hubs. The new developments are therefore intended to improve passenger infrastructure while also supporting local economic activity.
The project’s implementation will depend on the progress of construction at the four active sites and the start of work at the other nine locations. TGSRTC’s next steps include continuing construction and managing the proposed allocation of commercial spaces through its management system.
