Cyberabad has immersed 1,19,667 Ganesh idols during the ongoing Ganesh utsavam, while the Cyberbad Municipal Corporation has separately collected about 6,000 kg of flower waste from immersion points over the past 11 days.
The municipal corporation is segregating and drying the collected flowers before processing them into products including incense sticks, dhoops and diyas. The initiative is intended to keep floral offerings separate from other waste generated at the designated immersion locations.
The collection is being carried out alongside the civic arrangements for idol immersion across Cyberabad. The volume of idols immersed has continued to rise during the festival, placing additional operational demands on the authorities managing immersion points and the waste generated there.
By collecting flowers separately, the corporation is directing a portion of the festival waste stream towards reuse rather than allowing it to mix with general waste at the immersion sites. The collected material is being processed after segregation and drying, according to the report.
More idols are expected to be immersed as the festival arrangements continue. The Cyberbad Municipal Corporation will continue idol-immersion services and flower-waste collection today and tomorrow at the designated immersion points.
