The Telangana Waqf Board has begun an administrative review of pending cases involving Waqf properties, directing its legal section to speed up the preparation and filing of counter affidavits before the Telangana High Court and the Waqf Tribunal.
Board chairman Azmatullah Husseini issued the directions at a meeting held to assess the status of ongoing litigation and strengthen the Board’s response in cases concerning Waqf properties and the institution’s interests. He said such matters should be handled on priority and that avoidable delays in filing counters should be prevented.
The meeting decided that cases assigned to standing counsels would be distributed in an equitable and systematic manner. The stated objective is to ensure more effective handling of litigation and timely representation of the Telangana Waqf Board before courts and tribunals.
The review also focused on the internal functioning of the Board’s legal section. Husseini directed that adequate staff be posted to support the processing of court cases, preparation and transmission of instructions, maintenance of case records, monitoring of hearing dates and coordination with standing counsels.
The directions place the Board’s legal administration at the centre of its response to disputes involving Waqf properties. The reported measures concern the movement of cases through the Board’s legal and field offices, including the preparation of records and instructions required for representation before judicial forums.
Waqf Board chief executive officer Asadullah stressed the need for closer coordination between the legal section, standing counsels and the Board’s field or concerned sections. According to the report, he called for this coordination to support the expeditious disposal and effective management of pending litigation.
