Telangana Police FitCop App to Screen Health of 90,000 Personnel

The FitCop app is set to expand across all units and wings of the Telangana Police, with the programme planned to screen and record health parameters for nearly 90,000 personnel across the state. The initiative, reviewed by Director-General of Police C.V. Anand, is expected to be launched within the next 40 to 45 days.

Anand held a meeting with the application’s developers, technical team and senior police officers to review the health parameters and essential features proposed for the statewide version. The meeting also covered the memorandum of understanding and the action plan for rolling out the programme across the police organisation.

The first phase will focus on screening personnel for body mass index, height, weight, blood pressure and diabetes. Police personnel identified as high-risk will receive targeted medical guidance and follow-up monitoring, according to the report. Doctors will make calls from a dedicated call centre as part of the planned monitoring process.

The programme is also expected to include support for mental health, personalised diet recommendations and exercise guidance. The stated objective is to move beyond simply recording health data and help police personnel improve their overall well-being and work efficiency.

A sponsor has been identified to fund the entire programme for the next 10 years. The proposed funding arrangement is expected to support the application, screening process and related wellness services, although the report does not provide details of the sponsor, the financial value of the arrangement or the terms of the proposed MoU.

The planned rollout places a large public workforce within a common digital health-monitoring system. Its initial screening parameters cover both measurable indicators, such as blood pressure and diabetes, and follow-up interventions involving doctors. The programme’s wider provisions are intended to address physical fitness, diet, exercise and mental health through a coordinated welfare initiative.

The FitCop application is currently at the planning and preparation stage, with the technical team and senior officers reviewing its features and rollout requirements. The next stated milestone is the launch within 40 to 45 days, followed by screening across the Telangana Police’s units and wings.
