The Telangana government has formed a high-level committee to examine 12 issues involving lands and properties listed under the prohibited 22-A category, with the panel expected to submit its recommendations within a month, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy told the Assembly on Friday.
The committee will be chaired by Chief Commissioner of Land Administration DS Lokesh Kumar. Law Secretary Papi Reddy and Inspector General of Stamps and Registration Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu will serve as members. The government issued Government Order Rt No. 564 for the constitution of the panel.
The 22-A category covers properties whose transactions are prohibited or restricted in official land and registration records. The minister said the committee would examine and resolve 12 issues linked to the category. He did not provide further details in the report on the specific nature of each issue or the properties covered.
The announcement comes amid controversy over the inclusion of lands and properties in the prohibited list. For property owners, such listings can affect the ability to register transactions and regularise or develop land. The committee’s recommendations are expected to set out the government’s approach to the issues within the one-month timeframe announced in the Assembly.
The minister also announced steps concerning 9,792 plots in various colonies of the LB Nagar Assembly constituency. A memo was issued on Friday under Government Order 118, and the regularisation process was scheduled to begin on Saturday. According to the minister, the process would continue until the issue was resolved.
Regularisation under GO 118 is separate from the committee’s review of the 22-A issues, but both announcements concern the status of land and property records and their effect on residents. The minister said the government was committed to working towards a resolution of the LB Nagar issue.
In another land-related announcement, Reddy said the government would initiate the regularisation of house sites in the Singareni region under GO 76. The order was issued during the tenure of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. A meeting with legislators from the Singareni region was scheduled for Saturday under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
The government also plans to decide within a day or two whether to remove certain areas from the 22-A list. The minister said the areas had previously been included in the category but had layouts developed with permissions from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, the Directorate of Town and Country Planning or the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The next formal milestone is the committee’s submission of recommendations on the 12 22-A issues within one month. A decision on the areas with HMDA, DTCP or GHMC-approved layouts is expected within one or two days, according to the minister’s statement in the Assembly.
