Telangana AI Training to Reach 1 Lakh Students Across 643 Colleges

Telangana AI training will be provided free of cost to one lakh students across the state under a new initiative announced by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Monday. The programme will cover artificial intelligence, cloud computing, data engineering, machine learning and generative AI across 643 colleges affiliated with the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK).

The Telangana AI and Cloud Skilling Initiative will be implemented by TASK in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). An agreement between the two organisations was signed at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. According to the minister, the programme will not impose a financial burden on the state government, participating educational institutions or students.

Students will receive access to the AWS Cloud Console for hands-on learning. The programme will also provide one year of free access to more than 900 digital courses through AWS Skill Builder, along with discount vouchers for global certification examinations.

The training is intended to include students from both technology and non-technology disciplines. Specialised learning tracks will be available for students pursuing Arts and Commerce courses, in addition to those studying Engineering and Science. This structure places the initiative across a wider section of the state’s higher education network rather than limiting it to conventional technical programmes.

The programme will include industry-connect sessions with technology experts and hackathons designed to give students practical exposure and opportunities to interact with professionals. These components will supplement the online course access and cloud-console learning announced under the initiative.

TASK will organise special job fairs for eligible students who complete the training programme, Sridhar Babu said. The job fairs are intended to support employment opportunities for participating students after completion of the courses. The minister also said faculty members from participating colleges would receive training in artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.

The agreement makes TASK the state-level implementing agency for the initiative, while AWS will provide access to its learning and cloud-computing resources. The announcement does not specify the programme’s completion schedule, the number of students to be enrolled from each college, or the criteria for eligibility for the job fairs. Further details on these operational aspects will determine how the statewide training programme is rolled out across the participating institutions.
