Tata Projects Wins GSFC Order for Gujarat Acid Complex

Tata Projects has secured an engineering, procurement and construction order from Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (GSFC) to develop an integrated phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid complex at Sikka in Jamnagar, Gujarat, the company said on Wednesday.

The proposed facility will include a phosphoric acid plant with a capacity of 600 metric tonnes per day and a sulphuric acid plant with a capacity of 1,800 metric tonnes per day. The project will also include associated utilities and offsite infrastructure required to support the manufacturing complex.

Tata Projects said the contract expands its presence in specialised process industries and strengthens its position as an EPC partner for complex industrial infrastructure. The company did not disclose the value of the order or the project’s construction and commissioning timeline in the statement cited by Press Trust of India.

The Sikka complex will combine phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid production within an integrated industrial facility. Both plants will be developed along with supporting systems, although the company statement did not provide further technical details on the utilities, offsite infrastructure or the implementation phases.

Rajiv Menon, President and Chief Growth & Strategy Officer at Tata Projects, said the company’s priority was to build a high-quality and diversified order book based on technical expertise, execution credibility and customer partnerships. His comments positioned the GSFC contract as part of Tata Projects’ wider expansion into chemicals, fertilisers and other specialised process industries.

The order adds to Tata Projects’ portfolio across large industrial and infrastructure segments. The company said it works on refineries, petrochemical plants, chemical process facilities, roads, bridges, integrated rail and metro systems, commercial buildings, airports, power systems, water and waste management, and mining and metal purification projects.

For GSFC, the project represents the development of additional acid-manufacturing capacity at Sikka, an industrial location in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district. The announcement, however, did not specify the complex’s expected output beyond the stated daily capacities, its workforce requirements, financing arrangements or the intended completion date.

The next publicly stated step is the development of the integrated phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid facilities, together with their utilities and offsite infrastructure, under the EPC contract awarded by GSFC to Tata Projects.
