Taj Express Terminal Shift to Nizamuddin Alters Faridabad Timings

The Taj Express terminal change will affect passengers travelling between Faridabad, Delhi, Agra and Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi, with both services now scheduled to operate from Hazrat Nizamuddin instead of New Delhi and their timings revised by 10 minutes.

According to a timetable notice issued by Northern Railway and reported by Navbharat Times – Faridabad, train numbers 12280 and 12279 will no longer originate from or terminate at New Delhi railway station. The change requires passengers who previously planned their journeys around New Delhi station to use Hazrat Nizamuddin instead.

Train number 12280, the Delhi-bound service towards Agra and Jhansi, was earlier scheduled to leave New Delhi at 6:55 am. Under the revised schedule, it will depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin at 7:05 am. The train is scheduled to reach Faridabad at 7:21 am, remain there for two minutes and depart at 7:23 am towards Agra.

The revised schedule also changes the evening return journey. Train number 12279, operating from Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction, was earlier scheduled to leave at 3:10 pm and reach Faridabad at 8:45 pm. It will now arrive at Hazrat Nizamuddin at 9:25 pm instead of reaching New Delhi at 9:35 pm.

For passengers from Faridabad and nearby areas, the terminal shift changes the access point for boarding and alighting in Delhi. Travellers who had arranged connections, local transport or transfers around New Delhi station may need to allow additional time to reach Hazrat Nizamuddin. The change is particularly relevant for passengers boarding the train at its originating station, as the departure point has moved even though the service continues to pass through Faridabad.

The revised timings also mean that passengers should check the complete schedule before leaving for the station. The report said that Northern Railway has asked travellers to use the Rail Madad helpline at 139, the railway website or the National Train Enquiry System application to verify arrival and departure times at stations along the route.

The terminal change highlights how a station-level operational decision can alter the travel plans of passengers across the Delhi-Faridabad corridor. While the reported adjustment is limited to the terminal and a 10-minute change in timings, passengers connecting from other parts of Delhi or relying on fixed local transport arrangements will need to account for the new station and schedule before travelling.

Passengers using the Taj Express have been advised to confirm the train number, terminal station and latest timetable through official railway information channels before beginning their journey. The revised operations will apply to train numbers 12280 and 12279 as notified by Northern Railway.
