Suzlon has secured a 200 MW wind energy order from Ayana Renewable Power, with the project to be executed in Limbawas, Madhya Pradesh, the wind turbine maker said on Tuesday, September 8. The electricity generated will be connected to the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited state grid.
The order involves the installation of 64 Suzlon S144 wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 megawatts, according to a company statement reported by Business Standard. Suzlon said the project marks its third devco-led wind order across Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
A devco-led order uses an integrated development model under which a renewable energy supplier supports the project from early-stage site development through construction. For the Ayana project, Suzlon’s scope will include turbine supply, land acquisition, balance-of-plant work, a pooling substation, an extra-high-voltage transmission line, commissioning, and operations and maintenance services.
Suzlon said the order also takes its S144 3.x MW platform past the 10 GW milestone. The company described the platform as its flagship turbine range. The 64 turbines planned for the Madhya Pradesh project will together provide the contracted capacity of 200 MW.
Girish Tanti, vice-chairman and co-founder of Suzlon Group, said Madhya Pradesh had more than 55 GW of wind potential at a height of 150 metres and was positioned to support the next phase of India’s wind-energy growth. He said Suzlon had won two consecutive wind orders from the state.
The project will be executed through Suzlon’s comprehensive engineering, procurement and construction offering. The company said its integrated approach was creating new opportunities in renewable-energy project development and added that it had secured four wind orders across two states in a short period.
Ajay Kapur, chief executive officer of Suzlon Group, said the company’s end-to-end capabilities enabled it to develop and execute wind projects while expanding its renewable-energy business. The statement did not provide a project commissioning date or disclose the order’s financial value.
For Ayana Renewable Power, the order represents the company’s entry into wind generation in Madhya Pradesh. Lakshmi Narayanan B, the company’s head of business development, said Ayana looked forward to working with Suzlon to deliver the project and contribute to India’s clean-energy transition. The next steps will involve execution of the development, construction, grid-connection and operations commitments included in Suzlon’s EPC scope.
