This strategic event aims to propel the conversion of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) inked during the Global Maritime India Summit 2023 (GMIS 2023) into actionable plans, aligning with the nation’s ambitious maritime vision. Scheduled to be graced by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, along with Minister of States Shripad Y Naik and Shantanu Thakur, the Stakeholders Meet is designed to harness the momentum generated during GMIS 2023. The objective is to serve as a dynamic platform for open discussions, fostering an exchange of ideas and suggestions among stakeholders. The primary focus is to address challenges and identify the requisite support or policy interventions needed to materialise the objectives outlined in the MoUs.
The upcoming event is anticipated to build on the successes of GMIS 2023, which emerged as one of the largest global maritime summits. The three-day summit garnered a monumental investment commitment of Rs 10 lakh crores, with the signing of an impressive 360 MoUs, totaling an investment commitment of Rs 8.35 lakh crores. Additionally, the announcement of investible projects worth Rs 1.68 lakh crores further solidified the summit’s success. These MoUs encapsulate various dimensions of the maritime sector, spanning from port development, modernisation, and port-led development to green hydrogen, ammonia, cruise sector initiatives, business and commerce ventures, shipbuilding, and knowledge-sharing collaborations.

The Stakeholders Meet will not only foster discussions but will also witness the launch of significant initiatives. This includes the unveiling of ‘Sagar Aankalan’ Guidelines, the GMIS Report, and the introduction of M. Tech in Dredging Technology at IIT Chennai. These launches are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing India’s maritime capabilities and aligning with the goals set forth during GMIS 2023. The ‘Sagar Aankalan’ Guidelines, focusing on the National Benchmarking of Indian Ports Performance, aim to map and benchmark logistics performance and efficiency of all Indian seaports. The guidelines further strive to harmonise standards, definitions, and performance metrics with global benchmarks, ultimately improving competitiveness, efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction in the port sector. In essence, the Stakeholders Meet is poised to be a transformative gathering, steering the maritime sector towards unprecedented growth and solidifying India’s standing as a maritime powerhouse.
