Telangana is poised to introduce six new policies. These initiatives aim to elevate the state’s industrial competitiveness on a global scale, focusing particularly on micro, medium, and small enterprises (MSMEs), exports, and emerging sectors.
The six policies on the anvil include an MSME policy, an export policy, a new life sciences policy, a revised electric vehicles (EV) policy, a medical tourism policy, and a green energy policy. The revised EV policy is particularly noteworthy, with its dual focus on advancing electric vehicle adoption and positioning Telangana as a leader in this sector. During a high-level meeting, officials briefed the CM on the decisions taken in previous meetings and the progress achieved thus far. Emphasising the importance of learning from global best practices, the CM instructed officials to study successful industrial policies implemented in other countries. This approach underscores the government’s commitment to adopting innovative strategies that can drive substantial growth in Telangana’s industrial sector.
The MSME policy is expected to provide a robust framework for supporting small businesses, which are critical to the state’s economic fabric. Meanwhile, the export policy aims to enhance Telangana’s trade performance by identifying new markets and improving the competitiveness of local products. The new life sciences policy seeks to capitalise on the state’s strengths in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, fostering innovation and encouraging investment in research and development. The medical tourism policy is designed to attract international patients by leveraging the state’s advanced healthcare infrastructure and skilled medical professionals. The green energy policy will focus on sustainable development, promoting the use of renewable energy sources to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change. This aligns with global trends towards greener, more sustainable industrial practices.
The revised EV policy aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and position Telangana as a hub for EV manufacturing and innovation. This policy is expected to attract significant investment from both domestic and international players in the EV sector. Overall, these policies reflect the state government’s proactive approach to industrial development and its vision of transforming Telangana into a leading industrial hub. By fostering a supportive ecosystem for industries and encouraging sustainable practices, the government aims to ensure long-term economic growth and prosperity for the state.
Chief minister A Revanth Reddy along with IT and industry minister D Sridhar Babu and senior officials from Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation held a review meeting on industry sector here on Tuesday, and directed the officials to complete the formulation of policies before the election code ends on June 4.
