The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) will prepare a blueprint for traffic and road-safety improvements at Sangeet Junction in Secunderabad after its Commissioner inspected the busy intersection and directed officials to examine measures including a possible free left turn and road widening.
MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy visited Sangeet Junction on Friday to review proposed works aimed at improving traffic movement and reducing congestion. He instructed officials to assess the ground-level requirements before preparing the blueprint, according to Telangana Today.
The proposed measures include examining whether a free left turn can be provided at the junction and identifying sections where the road can be widened. The civic body has not yet specified the length of road that could be widened, the design of the proposed traffic arrangement or the likely cost of the works.
The Commissioner also directed officials to include road-safety improvements and measures intended to make commuting more convenient. The inspection places the junction’s traffic management within the municipal corporation’s broader responsibility for addressing congestion and keeping key roads accessible.
During the same inspection, Reddy visited Bowenpally Circle and directed officials to improve traffic movement and address road encroachments. The instructions indicate that the corporation is examining both traffic design and the use of road space as part of its response to movement problems in the area.
The Commissioner later inspected the road beneath the Fatehnagar flyover, where encroachments were present on one side of the road. He asked Town Planning and other officials to inspect the site and take action according to the rules to prevent obstruction and keep the road accessible.
The next step is the preparation of the Sangeet Junction blueprint after officials assess the site and the feasibility of the proposed interventions. The report does not specify a deadline for the blueprint, whether the free-left proposal will be approved or when any road and safety works could begin.
