Sangeet Junction traffic improvements are being planned in Secunderabad, with the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) preparing a blueprint to ease congestion and improve road safety at one of the city’s busiest junctions.
MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy inspected Sangeet Junction on Friday and reviewed proposed measures aimed at improving traffic movement and commuter convenience. He directed officials to assess the ground-level requirements before preparing the plan.
Among the measures under consideration is a free left turn, which could allow vehicles to bypass the main junction movement where feasible. The Commissioner also asked officials to examine the possibility of widening the road, subject to the availability of space and site conditions.
The proposed interventions are currently at the assessment and blueprint stage. The MMC has not announced a construction schedule, estimated cost or final design for the junction works. Officials have instead been asked to examine what changes can be implemented at the location and identify the requirements for improving traffic flow and safety.
The inspection also covered Bowenpally Circle, where the Commissioner directed officials to improve traffic movement and address road encroachments. The directions place the junction and surrounding road-access issues within the municipal corporation’s wider effort to identify physical obstructions and traffic bottlenecks along important routes.
Reddy later inspected the road beneath the Fatehnagar flyover. The inspection found encroachments on one side of the road, and he instructed Town Planning and other officials to inspect the site and take action as per rules. The officials were also directed to prevent obstruction and keep the road accessible.
The locations reviewed during the inspection highlight the operational challenges involved in improving traffic movement beyond a single junction. At Sangeet Junction, the MMC is examining road design and turning movements, while at Bowenpally Circle and beneath the Fatehnagar flyover, officials have been asked to address encroachments and maintain usable road space.
The next step is for the MMC to complete its site assessment and prepare the blueprint for Sangeet Junction. Further details on the proposed road-widening work, free left turn and road-safety measures will depend on the findings of that exercise and subsequent decisions by the municipal authorities.
