Rs 50 Crore Tunnel Aquarium Project Approved for Nehru Zoo

Hyderabad is set to become home to India’s largest tunnel-style aquarium, a ₹50 crore project under development at Nehru Zoological Park (NZP). Spanning approximately 4,000 square metres, the aquarium will offer an immersive experience, allowing visitors to walk through a glass tunnel surrounded by marine life, including sharks and exotic fish species from Asia, Africa, and America .

The project is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with international collaboration from marine aquarium specialists in Singapore and Australia. The design includes advanced features such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies to enhance educational and interactive experiences for visitors . Pending final approval from the Central Zoo Authority, construction is expected to commence soon, with the aquarium slated to open by the end of 2026.

This development aims to boost tourism and provide an educational platform for marine conservation awareness in the region.
