Adani Cement Ltd. and the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at promoting eco-friendly and energy-efficient construction practices across India. This collaboration, formalised during CREDAI’s Governing Council Meeting in Goa, seeks to leverage the strengths of both organisations to advance the adoption of sustainable building materials and technologies in the real estate sector.
Adani Cement, a leading player in the Indian cement industry, accounts for nearly 30% of the cement consumed in the country’s housing and infrastructure projects. Through this partnership, CREDAI members will gain direct access to Adani Cement’s extensive supply chain, ensuring a steady and reliable supply of high-quality cement for their construction projects nationwide. This integration aims to streamline procurement processes and enhance project timelines, contributing to the efficient execution of real estate developments. The alliance goes beyond material supply, focusing on the promotion of sustainable construction practices. Adani Cement has been at the forefront of incorporating environmental considerations into its operations.
The company has committed to powering 60% of its cement production with renewable energy sources by 2028 and has already achieved a significant milestone by producing over 90% of its cement using blended materials, recycling waste fly ash and slag. This approach not only reduces the carbon footprint of cement production but also aligns with global sustainability goals. CREDAI, representing a vast network of real estate developers, has been actively advocating for the adoption of green building practices. The organisation has previously pledged to certify 1 lakh homes and 25 million square feet of commercial real estate with green building certifications annually, as part of its commitment to sustainable urban development. The partnership with Adani Cement is expected to further these efforts by providing access to eco-friendly building materials and promoting the implementation of energy-efficient construction techniques among its members.
In addition to material supply, the collaboration includes the sharing of technical expertise to enhance the quality and sustainability of construction projects. Adani Cement’s technical team will work closely with CREDAI members to provide guidance on the use of advanced construction materials and technologies, ensuring that developers are equipped with the knowledge and resources needed to implement sustainable practices effectively. This partnership also aims to support the development of net-zero buildings, which are designed to produce as much energy as they consume, thereby reducing their overall environmental impact. By promoting the use of energy-efficient materials and construction methods, the alliance seeks to contribute to the creation of buildings that are both environmentally responsible and economically viable.
The collaboration between Adani Cement and CREDAI marks a significant step towards the transformation of the Indian construction industry into a more sustainable and eco-conscious sector. By combining Adani Cement’s expertise in sustainable cement production with CREDAI’s extensive network of developers, the partnership is poised to drive the widespread adoption of green building practices across the country. As India continues to urbanise rapidly, the need for sustainable construction solutions becomes increasingly critical. This alliance represents a proactive approach to addressing the challenges of urban development while ensuring the preservation of the environment for future generations. Through continued collaboration and innovation, Adani Cement and CREDAI aim to set new benchmarks in sustainable urban construction, paving the way for a greener and more resilient built environment.
