A government tribal girls’ hostel in Rajasthan’s Baran district is facing a security crisis after around 40 minor residents complained that the husband of a sports coach repeatedly entered the premises, allegedly molested and harassed students, and verbally abused them. The students and the hostel superintendent approached Baran Superintendent of Police Abhishek Andasu on Sunday, seeking urgent intervention and legal action.
The hostel is the Government Tribal Girls Ashram Hostel at Pachhad. The complaints identify the accused as Premshankar Meena, the husband of sports coach Ramsarekha Bai. According to separate complaints submitted by the students and hostel superintendent Mamta Gautam, copies of which were reviewed by the Times of India, Meena made frequent unauthorised visits to the hostel and allegedly entered the premises while intoxicated.
The students alleged that the most recent incident occurred on Saturday night at about 8pm, when Meena scaled the hostel’s boundary wall and entered the premises unlawfully. Once inside, he allegedly molested several girls and used abusive language, according to the complaints. The students said the incident created fear among the residents and affected the atmosphere at the hostel.
The complaints also allege that the accused had previously harassed and verbally abused students during his visits. The allegations have been made by minor residents and remain subject to investigation and due legal process. The source report did not include a response from Meena or Ramsarekha Bai.
Hostel authorities said they attempted to report the Saturday night incident to Chhipabarod police station immediately, but alleged that no action was initiated. The students and the superintendent then decided to approach the Baran SP directly, citing concerns about their safety and frustration over the police response.
Some complainants also shared a video that they said documented their allegations. The students asked the police administration to take legal action against Meena and restore a secure environment inside the hostel. Their complaints place the focus not only on the allegations of abuse but also on how unauthorised access to a residential facility for minor girls was possible.
Baran SP Andasu, Additional Superintendent of Police Sourabh Tiwari, Chhipabarod area Deputy Superintendent of Police Tarachand and Circle Inspector Gambhir Singh did not respond to repeated calls seeking their comments, according to the report. The complaints submitted to the SP are now the stated basis for the demand for intervention and legal action.
