Karnataka’s final voter roll has recorded a reduction of 99.32 lakh electors after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, taking the state’s electorate from 5,54,32,314 to 4,55,00,011, according to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office.
The final electoral roll was published on Tuesday. The revised figures show that Karnataka now has 4.55 crore voters, compared with nearly 5.54 crore before the SIR process.
The final roll includes 2,25,40,493 male voters, 2,29,12,355 female voters and 2,841 third-gender electors, the CEO’s office said. The figures provide the latest official breakdown of the state’s registered electorate following the revision exercise.
The roll also includes more than 6.83 lakh voters in the 18-19 age group. This category covers newly eligible young electors and indicates the number of voters entering the electoral register in the latest published data.
The revision changes the size and composition of Karnataka’s official electorate used for election administration. Electoral rolls are the basis for identifying eligible voters and for organising polling arrangements across the state.
The CEO’s office did not provide, in the information available, a district-wise breakdown of the deleted names, the reasons for the reduction, or details of claims and objections filed during the SIR process. Those details would be required to assess how the reduction was distributed and what categories of records accounted for the change.
For now, the final published figures establish that Karnataka’s registered electorate stands at 4,55,00,011, with women voters outnumbering men by the recorded margin in the state roll. The CEO’s office has released the final roll after completion of the SIR exercise.
