Rajasthan Plans AI Township Along Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Says Piyush Goyal

The Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal unveiled plans for the establishment of an artificial intelligence (AI) city along the Delhi-Mumbai expressway in Rajasthan.

This ambitious initiative, which is being explored by the Rajasthan state government, could potentially transform the region into a hub for data centers and AI-driven industries. Goyal revealed that Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is actively scouting land between Delhi and Jaipur to build a township dedicated to AI and data center operations. The proposed city, he said, would serve as a thriving ecosystem for technology and innovation, offering job opportunities for professionals and students graduating from universities across the state.

The AI city would benefit from international connectivity through fibre optics, making it an attractive destination for both local and global tech companies. Goyal also highlighted the global demand for green energy in data centers, and with Rajasthan’s vast land availability, the state is well-positioned to ramp up the deployment of renewable energy to meet this demand. In addition to the AI township, Goyal suggested that Rajasthan could become a global AI hub, contributing significantly to the Industry 4.0 revolution. The state has already begun embracing cutting-edge technologies like robotics, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, with a strong focus on smart manufacturing.

At the summit, Rajasthan Industries Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore emphasized the state government’s commitment to supporting MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) in leveraging the latest technologies. According to Rathore, the adoption of AI and other advanced technologies will enable MSMEs to thrive in the modern, competitive manufacturing landscape. Ashutosh AT Pednekar, Rajasthan’s Rural Development Secretary, echoed these sentiments, stressing that digital transformation is now essential for manufacturers to stay ahead in the marketplace. As the world increasingly moves towards automation and smart technology, Rajasthan is positioning itself to be a leader in AI, manufacturing, and renewable energy, with the Delhi-Mumbai expressway serving as a strategic location for this transformation. The proposed AI township represents a significant leap forward for Rajasthan in its pursuit of becoming a technological and industrial powerhouse, with the potential to attract global investments, create jobs, and establish the state as a key player in the future of AI and digital innovation.
