Pune School Portal Delay Blocks Staffing Approval for 103 Schools

A delay in finalising school records on the state’s School Portal has blocked the transfer of student information for the 2026-27 staffing approval process in 103 schools across Pune district, according to the education department. The affected institutions include aided, partially aided and local-body schools, with responsibility assigned to the respective school managements and headmasters if the work is not completed on time.

The staffing approval process is based on records of student strength, classes and divisions in each school. School Portal entries covering these details, along with the type of grant and medium of instruction, must first be approved and finalised before student information can be forwarded through the Student Portal.

The department said that as of 10.30 am on October 19, records for the secondary schools covered by the process had been approved. However, 103 schools had still not finalised their School Portal information. Since the next-stage option on the Student Portal becomes active only after the School Portal is finalised, the transfer of student data for further processing remains pending.

The schools listed as pending include nine in Pune city, eight in Haveli, 13 in Akurdi, 10 in Aundh, 10 in Bibwewadi, nine in Pimpri, seven in Hadapsar and five in Yerawada. Five schools each from Khed and Mulshi, four from Maval, three each from Ambegaon, Baramati and Purandar, two each from Indapur and Shirur, and one from Junnar are also included. Four schools that have not selected their board are part of the total.

The list includes schools administered by district councils, municipalities and municipal corporations, making the pending digital records relevant to several types of local education authorities. If the School Portal work is not completed, the preparation of the staffing approval for 2026-27 could also be delayed, the department has indicated.

The education department has also warned that finalising the portal is not sufficient unless the information entered is accurate. In particular, it said that the concerned office would not be responsible if a school selected the wrong medium of instruction before finalising its records. Schools are therefore required to check their entries before submitting them for the next stage.

Work for the 2026-27 staffing approval is being carried out through the U-DISE Plus and SARAL systems. Shivaji Shinde, president of the Pune City Headmasters’ Association, said all headmasters should immediately finalise the School Portal, Student Portal and working employee information at the government level. The next administrative step depends on the pending schools completing and accurately submitting their records.
