Pune railway traffic changes will affect several passenger and long-distance services on Sunday, October 11, as Central Railway carries out a nine-hour traffic and power block for upgrading the DDS point on the Down Miraj main line at Pune railway yard.
The block will remain in force from 8 am to 5 pm. Two DEMU services—Satara-Pune DEMU (71420) and Pune-Daund DEMU (71407)—have been cancelled for the day. The Baramati-Pune DEMU (71406) will run only up to Daund instead of Pune.
During the work, Platform 2 at Pune station will not be available for trains arriving from or departing towards Hadapsar. Trains operating towards Saswad Road will not be able to use Platforms 2 and 3. The restrictions are linked to the work on the yard’s track and electrical systems.
The changes will also affect several long-distance trains. The Jaipur-Pune Express (12940) and Mumbai-Pune Express (12127) will be partially terminated at Khadki. The Nagpur-Pune Express (12136), Jammu Tawi-Pune Express (11078) and Amravati-Pune Express (11406) will be partially terminated at Hadapsar rather than Pune station.
The starting points of some services departing from Pune have also been changed. The Pune-Kolhapur DEMU (11425) will originate from Satara, while the Pune-Jaipur Express (12939) and Pune-Mumbai Express (12128) will depart from Khadki. The Pune-Nagpur Express (12135) will depart from Hadapsar at 5.45 pm.
The temporary changes will require passengers using Pune, Khadki, Hadapsar, Daund and Satara to verify their train’s latest schedule and boarding or alighting station before travelling. Passengers arriving at Pune for services that terminate at Khadki or Hadapsar may need to make separate local travel arrangements, although the report does not specify any additional passenger transport facility.
The block is being undertaken for the upgrading of the DDS point on the Down Miraj main line. Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the updated timetable and station information before beginning their journey on Sunday.
