Pune-Nagpur special trains will operate on October 19, 20, 21 and 22 to carry passengers travelling to Nagpur for Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, with Central Railway scheduling two services in each direction and making all coaches available for unreserved travel.
Train 01215 will depart from Pune at 2.50 pm on October 19 and 21, reaching Nagpur at 7.30 am the following day. The return service, train 01216, will leave Nagpur at 11 pm on October 20 and 22 and arrive in Pune at 4.20 pm the next day.
The additional services are intended to manage the expected increase in demand around Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, an annual observance associated with Dr B R Ambedkar’s conversion to Buddhism along with around six lakh followers. The occasion draws large numbers of visitors to Nagpur, creating additional pressure on rail travel capacity.
Both trains will halt at Daund Chord Line, Ahilyanagar, Belapur, Kopargaon, Ankai, Manmad, Chalisgaon, Pachora, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Malkapur, Shegaon, Akola, Murtizapur, Badnera, Dhamangaon, Pulgaon, Wardha and Ajni before reaching their destinations.
Each service will consist of 18 coaches. The composition will include 16 general second-class or sleeper-class coaches operated on an unreserved basis and two guard-cum-luggage vans. Central Railway said all coaches on both trains would be available for unreserved travel.
Passengers can buy tickets through the UTS mobile application or at railway booking counters. Regular fares applicable to Superfast, Mail and Express trains will be charged for the journeys.
The services give passengers additional options during a period when demand for Pune-Nagpur travel is expected to rise. Travellers have been advised to check the train schedule and ticketing details before beginning their journey.
