Pune Metro Pink Line Sets 5.5-Minute Peak-Hour Frequency

Pune Metro’s Pink Line will begin passenger services between Maan, Hinjawadi and District Court on November 4, with trains scheduled every five minutes and 30 seconds during peak hours, according to a report by Sakal – Pune. The 23.3-kilometre corridor is expected to take about 45 minutes from Maan to District Court.

The route will connect the Hinjawadi IT Park area with central Pune, creating a new public transport link for employees and other commuters travelling between the western employment hub and the city centre. The service is scheduled to begin a day after the corridor’s inauguration ceremony on November 3.

The first metro service on the corridor will operate from 6 am. The final train from Maan towards District Court is scheduled to depart at 10.30 pm, while the last service from District Court towards Maan will be available at 11.30 pm, the report said. First-train availability will also be provided from Maan, District Court and other stations on the route.

During the morning peak period from 7.30 am to 9.30 am and the evening peak period from 5 pm to 8 pm, trains will run at intervals of five minutes and 30 seconds. Outside these high-demand periods, the frequency will be one train every 10 minutes.

The timetable is particularly relevant to workers in Hinjawadi, where a large concentration of information technology companies generates substantial daily travel demand. The corridor is intended to provide an alternative to road travel, which is affected by congestion and long journey times in the Hinjawadi area and on routes connecting it with Pune.

The 23.3-kilometre alignment is described in the report as linking Maan and Hinjawadi with District Court, bringing the IT district into the city’s metro network. The approximately 45-minute end-to-end journey provides a defined travel option for passengers who currently depend on private vehicles, buses or other road-based modes for the same broad connection.

The timetable also indicates that the operator has planned higher service frequency around conventional office commuting hours. However, the supplied report does not provide details of station-wise travel times, fares, interchange arrangements, parking facilities, accessibility provisions or the expected daily passenger capacity.

Passenger services are scheduled to commence on November 4 following the inauguration programme on November 3. The operating schedule, including the 6 am first service, peak-hour frequency and late-evening departures, will determine how the new corridor is used by Hinjawadi workers and other Pune commuters.
