Pune Metro Line 3 Opens November 4 With 6-Minute Services

Pune Metro Line 3 will begin passenger services between Maan and Shivajinagar from 6 am on November 4, adding a new rapid-transit option for commuters travelling between the Hinjawadi technology hub and central Pune. The 23.2-kilometre corridor will initially operate at 17 of its 23 planned stations.

Services will run every six minutes during peak hours and every 12 minutes during non-peak periods, according to details reported by Pune Mirror. The first train from Maan is scheduled to depart at 6 am, while the last service from that station will leave at 10.30 pm. From the Shivajinagar end, the final train is scheduled to depart at 11.40 pm.

The corridor has been developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority through a public-private partnership. It is intended to connect Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park and surrounding residential and commercial areas with Shivajinagar, one of Pune’s major administrative and commercial centres.

The initial passenger operation will cover 17 stations. The remaining six stations among the 23 planned for the corridor will not be included in the opening phase. The source report does not provide a consistent, verified station-wise list, and the operational details for each station were not independently established in the supplied material.

The line will pass through the Hinjawadi area before continuing towards central Pune and the District Court station. Its opening is expected to give IT employees and other daily commuters an alternative to road travel on the busy Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar route, where travel demand is driven by employment centres, housing growth and commercial activity.

The passenger service launch will follow a virtual inauguration scheduled for November 3 at 10.30 am. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the corridor virtually from the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Mhalunge-Balewadi. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar are also expected to attend the ceremony.

The initial operating schedule, including early morning services and trains continuing into the night, will determine how the corridor is used by office workers and other passengers. The next formal milestone is the virtual inauguration on November 3, followed by the start of passenger operations from Maan and Shivajinagar at the announced timings on November 4.
