Pune’s HCMTR land survey and the proposed inner ring road survey must be completed by October 30, 2026, after District Collector Jitendra Dudi directed officials to finish joint land measurements and corridor demarcation for both projects.
The directions were issued on Thursday during a review of the two road proposals. The surveys are intended to provide the land details required to move acquisition and transfer processes forward, which have been among the key administrative steps before construction-related work can progress.
The proposed High Capacity Mass Transit Route, or HCMTR, is planned with a width of 24 metres. The inner ring road is planned to be 65 metres wide. Both corridors are intended to add transport capacity in and around Pune and reduce pressure on existing city roads.
Under the Collector’s instructions, departments involved in the projects must complete land measurements and mark the proposed boundaries within the deadline. The exercise will establish the alignment and affected land parcels, creating the administrative basis for subsequent land acquisition and transfer procedures.
The Pune Municipal Corporation has also been asked to submit supplementary documents and technical reports required for approval to transfer land under the state government’s control. The completion of these documents is expected to support the next stage of the process, although the source report does not specify the total land area involved, the number of affected properties or the estimated cost of acquisition.
The projects were discussed in a presentation during the meeting. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manoj Patil highlighted their potential to improve traffic movement on several roads by creating additional routes for vehicles. The traffic police’s assessment links the road proposals to Pune’s continuing need for more movement corridors as traffic loads increase on existing routes.
The progress of both projects will depend on coordination among the district administration, the civic body and other departments involved in land transfer. Land under state government control requires additional documentation and approvals, making the survey deadline an important administrative milestone rather than a construction start date.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Pune Grand Tour 2027. Officials said discussions concerning land belonging to the defence and railway departments had received a positive response in connection with arrangements for the international cycling event.
The district administration is now seeking completion of the HCMTR and inner ring road surveys, along with the PMC’s supplementary documentation, by October 30. Further movement on land acquisition and government land transfers will depend on the outcome of these formalities and the coordination between the agencies involved.
