Early operational assessments suggest smoother freight movement is reducing fuel consumption, travel delays and transport-related emissions along the historic ghat stretch. The development is significant for a corridor that serves as a critical link between western India’s manufacturing hubs, logistics centres and consumption markets. While heavy commercial vehicles continue to use the older mountain route, the relocation of cars and passenger buses to the newly commissioned alignment has substantially reduced congestion on sections traditionally affected by traffic bottlenecks.

Transport analysts studying post-opening traffic patterns have observed measurable improvements in freight movement. Medium and heavy commercial vehicles are maintaining more consistent speeds through the ghat section, allowing operators to reduce time lost in repeated braking, acceleration and gear changes.
