Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Prayagraj on Friday to inaugurate several crucial development projects as part of the government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure for the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela in 2025. His visit will begin at 12:15 PM with a ceremonial pooja and darshan at the Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Following this, Modi will perform rituals at the Akshay Vata Vriksh, Hanuman Mandir, and Saraswati Koop.
In addition to religious observances, the Prime Minister will tour the Mahakumbh exhibition site to review preparations for the grand event. During his visit, he will inaugurate projects worth approximately Rs 5,500 crore, aimed at improving Prayagraj’s infrastructure. These initiatives include the construction of 10 new Road Over Bridges (RoBs) and flyovers, permanent ghats, and riverfront roads to enhance connectivity. Modi will also launch sewage treatment projects to prevent untreated sewage from flowing into the Ganga, including systems for intercepting and treating drains that discharge into the river. Additionally, vital infrastructure projects related to drinking water and power supply will be inaugurated to improve the region’s basic amenities.
As part of efforts to boost spiritual tourism and ease the movement of pilgrims, the Prime Minister will inaugurate key temple corridors, such as the Bharadwaj Ashram, Shringverpur Dham, Akshayvat, and Hanuman Mandir corridors. These corridors are designed to provide better access to sacred sites for devotees. Finally, Modi will launch the Kumbh Sah’AI’yak chatbot, a digital assistant to provide real-time updates and guidance to visitors attending the Mahakumbh Mela.
