Pepsi Plant in West Bengal Gets 98 Acres in Haldia Investment Push

West Bengal has announced plans for a Pepsi plant on 98 acres in Haldia, alongside a proposed Campa Cola facility in Haringhata, as the state government highlighted a fresh round of industrial investments on October 14.

According to Sangbad Pratidin – Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari made the announcements from Haldia during a programme where a new phenol and acetone production facility was inaugurated. The report said a separate medical equipment manufacturing plant is also planned on 50 acres in Haldia.

The proposed Pepsi project is among two new facilities announced for the industrial town. The report did not provide the project’s investment value, construction schedule, production capacity or expected employment figures. It also did not identify the specific Pepsi group entity that would develop the plant.

In Haringhata, Nadia district, the Reliance group is expected to establish a Campa Cola plant. The foundation stone is scheduled to be laid on October 28, according to the report. Campa Cola is a beverage brand owned by Reliance Consumer Products.

The Haldia announcements came during the inauguration of a phenol and acetone manufacturing facility established by Adperma Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Haldia Petrochemicals Limited. The report said the facility represents an investment of Rs 6,000 crore and is expected to generate direct and indirect employment, although it did not provide a detailed employment estimate.

Adhikari also announced that a trauma centre for workers in Haldia is scheduled to open in June 2027. The facility is intended to provide medical support in an industrial zone that includes petrochemical and chemical manufacturing activity.

The announcements add to a series of industrial and infrastructure projects mentioned in the report, including proposed facilities linked to Lux Cozi and Amul, a deep-sea port at Dadanpatrabar in East Midnapore, and a hospital project by the Adani group in New Town. The report said the state government has held discussions with business leaders to attract investment.

Further details on land allocation, statutory approvals, financing, construction timelines and employment commitments for the Pepsi and medical equipment plants were not provided in the report. The next publicly stated milestone is the Campa Cola foundation-stone ceremony scheduled for October 28.
