Palghar Gets 24×7 Senior Care Centre with 17-Bed Facility

A 24×7 senior care and rehabilitation centre has been established at Dr M.L. Dhawale Trust’s homeopathic hospital in Palghar through a collaboration with Adhata Trust, creating a dedicated facility for medical care, post-treatment support and rehabilitation of elderly patients.

The centre has been set up within the 100-bed homeopathic hospital, which has been operating in Palghar city since 2000. The facility is described as the only centre in Mumbai’s suburbs and surrounding areas to provide round-the-clock medical treatment and rehabilitation services specifically for senior citizens.

The hospital has housed the Ram Kapse Geriatric Centre since 2014. That unit has capacity to provide care to 14 senior citizens. The new elderly-care ward adds capacity for 17 patients and is intended to provide support after surgery and following medical treatment.

The centre’s development was led by social worker Arun Nanda, with the cooperation of Adhata Trust. The initiative is focused on providing elderly people with medical treatment, nursing care and rehabilitation in an organised setting, while also supporting activities intended to help senior citizens live with greater ease.

The facility will admit patients requiring care for mild dementia, early-stage Parkinson’s disease and mild mental health conditions. Treatment, rehabilitation and nursing care will be provided according to the patient’s needs. The services are being made available at affordable rates, according to the report.

The centre’s model combines clinical care with longer-duration support for patients who may not require acute hospitalisation but still need supervision and rehabilitation. Its stated capacity includes patients recovering from surgery, those completing medical treatment and elderly people requiring assistance for selected neurological and mental health conditions.

The expansion adds a specialised geriatric-care unit to an institution that already has an established hospital and geriatric centre in Palghar. The report does not provide details on the centre’s operating budget, staffing strength, admission procedure or eligibility documentation. It also does not specify whether the facility will offer home-based follow-up services after discharge.
