The Noida voter list for Assembly constituency 61 has come under fresh scrutiny after the Samajwadi Party alleged that it contains duplicate and suspicious entries while names of some eligible voters have been removed. The party has asked election authorities to independently examine the records and publish details of the action taken.
At a press conference in Sector 22, Samajwadi Party Noida metropolitan president Dr Ashray Gupta said the party had submitted records relating to around 25,000 voters to election officials on June 3. According to the party, these records appeared to contain duplicate or suspicious entries. It also alleged that several eligible voters were missing from the electoral roll.
The party has now claimed that a further review identified between 10,000 and 15,000 additional entries that appeared duplicate or suspicious. Its leaders said around four months had passed since the earlier documents were submitted, but that no appropriate action had been communicated to them so far.
The Samajwadi Party has sought an independent inquiry by the Chief Electoral Officer and the District Election Officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar. It has also demanded that the authorities disclose the action taken on the complaints and clarify the results of the verification process.
Gupta said the party did not want the names of genuine voters to be removed. He said its objective was to make the electoral roll accurate, transparent and free of errors. The party has asked officials to examine the names and Elector Photo Identity Card numbers cited in its complaints, beginning at booth level and extending to the election officer level.
The party also alleged that the names of some of its Booth Level Agents and local residents had been removed from the list despite the individuals having lived in the area for a long time and voted in previous elections. The leaders cited the cases of Kulbhushan Sharma, a resident of Sector 63; Subhash Verma of Sorkha; Satpal Yadav of Sarfabad; and Mohammad Imran, among others. They demanded that each case be examined individually.
The allegations place the accuracy of the electoral roll and the process for adding, correcting or deleting voter records at the centre of the dispute. The party has urged authorities not to remove any eligible citizen from the list without following the prescribed procedure and to protect the names of voters who qualify for registration.
The report also notes that the Election Commission’s official system allows voters to check their names and polling-related details. Procedures for correcting entries and seeking the removal of names are available through the election machinery. The Samajwadi Party has asked the authorities to use these processes to verify the records it submitted and to share the outcome with the organisation.
During the press conference, party metropolitan general secretary Vikas Yadav also raised issues concerning roads, sewerage, security and other civic facilities in Noida. The party said it would continue presenting public-interest issues before the relevant authorities through democratic and constitutional channels. The election authorities’ response to the voter-list complaints was not included in the report.
