A Noida school bomb threat sent by email to five schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar on Monday morning triggered evacuations, searches by police and bomb-disposal teams, and a cyber investigation, although no bomb or suspicious object was found at any of the campuses.
The email was reportedly sent at around 9:15 am and named five schools, including Fortune World, Amity, Khaitan and Bal Bharati. After receiving the message, school managements informed the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate Police, following which police officers, bomb-disposal personnel and dog squads were sent to the campuses.
Students were moved out of the school buildings and taken to open, secure areas while the checks were conducted. Teachers and other school employees assisted with the security arrangements under police instructions. The evacuation was carried out as a precaution while teams assessed whether the email represented a genuine threat.
Police and bomb-disposal teams searched classrooms, staff rooms, laboratories, corridors, staircases, toilets, store rooms and other sensitive areas inside the school buildings. The inspection also covered objects kept inside and outside the premises, vehicles parked on the campuses and surrounding areas. Dog squads were used to identify any potentially suspicious material.
The search operation continued for several hours. According to the report, the teams did not recover a bomb or any suspicious object from any of the five school premises. After the searches were completed, police described the threat as a rumour and security conditions at the schools were restored to normal.
The incident nevertheless required a coordinated response involving school administrations, local police, bomb-disposal personnel, dog squads and the cyber team. For students and families, the immediate impact was the removal of children from school buildings and a disruption to normal operations while the security checks were under way.
The police cyber team has begun investigating the email to identify the person who sent it. Investigators are examining technical evidence and other details linked to the message, including the medium through which it was sent. Police officials said the school premises were fully checked under the applicable security protocol and that no suspicious object was found during the operation.
