Noida’s proposed elevated road from the Rajnigandha underpass to Sector 60 has moved forward after the detailed project report (DPR) for the 5.49-km, six-lane corridor was completed by IIT Roorkee. The project is expected to cost between ₹800 crore and ₹850 crore and is intended to improve travel between the Delhi Noida Direct (DND) corridor and Sector 62.
The Noida Authority had asked IIT Roorkee to prepare the DPR, and the institute is expected to submit the completed report to the authority by Friday, according to the report. The DPR will provide the technical and cost framework for the proposed elevated road, although the source report does not specify a construction start date, tender schedule or completion deadline.
The project has been delayed for a considerable period because its alignment had not been finalised. The Noida Authority recently approved a revised alignment, clearing a key procedural obstacle for the scheme. The revised route will begin near Sector 3, close to the Rajnigandha underpass, and pass through or near Sectors 10, 12, 22 and 57 before reaching Sector 60.
One of the most technically demanding sections is expected to be the T-point between Sectors 12 and 22. The elevated road will need to turn at this location, requiring a specially designed curve. IIT Roorkee has given particular attention to the design of this section while preparing the DPR, according to the report.
The proposed corridor is planned as a six-lane elevated route. Its stated objective is to make travel from the DND towards Sector 62 easier by creating a grade-separated connection across a series of densely developed sectors. The route would link the southern and central parts of Noida with the eastern stretch around Sector 60 without relying entirely on existing surface-level connections.
The project’s progress now depends on the Noida Authority’s examination of the DPR and the subsequent administrative and procurement steps. The report does not state whether the authority has approved the full project cost, allocated funds, invited tenders or finalised an implementation agency. Those decisions will determine when construction can begin.
For residents and daily commuters, the proposed road represents a major change to Noida’s planned east-west movement network, but its immediate milestone is the submission of the DPR rather than the start of construction. The Noida Authority’s next steps after receiving IIT Roorkee’s report will establish the project’s financial, tendering and execution timeline.
