Noida is planning a new inter-city bus terminal in Sector 90 that could change how passengers wait, connect and travel across Delhi-NCR. The proposed facility is expected to combine transport infrastructure with passenger amenities such as air-conditioned waiting areas, retail spaces, food outlets and a cinema. The project comes as the city expands public transport links around the newly operational Noida International Airport.
The proposed Noida bus terminal is being planned as a larger and more modern facility than conventional bus stands. The project is expected to accommodate inter-city services while providing passengers with more organised waiting and transfer facilities. Reports indicate that the terminal could operate around the clock and support bus connectivity to states including Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. However, the final operating model, route network and service frequency will depend on subsequent planning and approvals. The location is also significant. Sector 90 already has a bus depot, where preparations and upgrades have been underway as Noida expands its city bus network. Recent work has included clearing old buses, improving the premises and preparing infrastructure for new services. The proposed terminal could include air-conditioned lounges, VIP passenger rooms, shops, food courts, restaurants and a movie theatre.
Such facilities would move the terminal beyond its traditional role as a boarding point and create a more integrated passenger environment. For commuters, the practical benefit will depend less on entertainment facilities and more on basics such as reliable schedules, clear information, safe pedestrian access, clean toilets and seamless connections with other modes of transport. That issue is particularly relevant as Noida’s airport connectivity expands. The airport currently lists city shuttle services and bus links from major transport hubs, while electric buses have also been introduced across Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna region. The Noida bus terminal could become an important interchange between city buses, inter-city services and airport-bound transport. If designed around walking, cycling and efficient public transport connections, it could help reduce dependence on private vehicles for longer journeys.
That would also make accessibility a key planning consideration. Safe access for women, older passengers, children and people with disabilities, along with adequate lighting and universal-access facilities, should form part of the terminal’s operational design. The project is still at the planning stage. Its construction cost and definitive completion schedule have not been officially released. The next steps will need to clarify the land-use plan, funding, construction timeline, bus routes and connections with Noida’s wider public transport network. For commuters, the real measure of success will be simple: whether the new terminal makes inter-city travel more reliable, connected and comfortable without adding unnecessary pressure to the city’s roads and environment.
