Nizamabad drunk driving cases reached 1,784 during vehicle checks conducted by the police across Nizamabad, Bodhan and Armoor divisions over six weeks, with 124 offenders sentenced to one week in jail and the remaining accused collectively fined Rs.1.45 crore.
The checks were conducted from August 2 to September 12, 2026, across all law and order and traffic police station limits under the Nizamabad commissionerate, according to the police. The enforcement covered the three divisions and involved checks near police stations and at other key locations within their respective jurisdictions.
The accused were produced before courts in Nizamabad, Bodhan and Armoor. Of the total offenders, 124 received one-week jail sentences. The remaining offenders were ordered to pay fines that together amounted to Rs.1.45 crore.
Police said the checks were intended to curb driving under the influence of alcohol and prevent road accidents. The enforcement action places drunk-driving violations within the regular responsibilities of both traffic police and law and order units operating across the commissionerate.
The police warned motorists against driving after consuming alcohol and said vehicle checks would continue across Nizamabad, Bodhan and Armoor divisions.
