Navi Mumbai Airport Duty-Free Pre-Order Service Goes Live

Air India and Adani Airport Holdings have launched an online duty-free pre-order facility for eligible international passengers travelling through Navi Mumbai and six other Indian airports, allowing travellers to select and pay for products before reaching the airport.

The facility is available through the Air India website and mobile application. Passengers can browse an online catalogue, place pre-orders and collect their purchases from designated duty-free counters at the relevant airport.

The service covers passengers travelling through Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram airports. The arrangement brings airline booking platforms and airport retail operations together in a single digital purchase process for eligible international travellers.

During the initial phase, customers can receive discounts of up to 25 per cent against the retail prices of selected duty-free products. The company has also said that bank offers and seasonal promotions will be available under the facility.

The online catalogue includes products such as alcoholic beverages, cosmetics, fragrances, chocolates and confectionery, and electronics. The availability of individual products and the applicable purchase conditions will be determined through the duty-free service at the participating airports.

Members of Air India’s Maharaja Club will receive additional benefits under the programme. Eligible duty-free transactions will earn three Maharaja Points for every Rs 100 spent. The facility will also apply to eligible codeshare journeys that include Air India Express flights, according to the company announcement.

For passengers, the model shifts part of the airport retail process to the period before departure. Travellers can complete product selection and payment online, while collection remains linked to designated counters at the airport. The arrangement is therefore dependent on passengers meeting the eligibility requirements for international duty-free purchases and collecting orders at the specified location.

The launch also expands the range of services available through the Air India digital ecosystem beyond flight reservations and travel management. For Adani Airports, the partnership adds a pre-order channel to duty-free retail operations across a network that includes airports serving major metropolitan and regional markets.

Air India and Adani Airports have stated that the facility is intended to be extended to more domestic and international airports in future phases. No further airports or implementation dates for that expansion were specified in the announcement.
