Namo Bharat Trip Pass Brings 10% Savings for Daily Commuters

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has introduced a Trip Pass for regular Namo Bharat passengers, allowing commuters to purchase multiple journeys between two fixed stations and receive a reported 10% discount. The facility is intended to reduce daily ticketing queues and make regular travel on the regional rapid transit system more convenient.

According to a report by Jagran – New Delhi, the Trip Pass is available for travel in both Standard and Premium coaches. Passengers can select between one and 40 trips, depending on their commuting requirements. The pass is designed for people who use Namo Bharat regularly, including those travelling to work on the same route each day.

The new arrangement works like a bulk travel pass rather than a conventional unlimited monthly pass. Travellers first select two fixed stations and then purchase a set number of journeys between them. This means the facility is suited to passengers with predictable travel patterns, while those making irregular or changing journeys would still need to use the regular ticketing system.

The Trip Pass is linked to the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), according to the report. The use of an existing interoperable mobility card gives regular passengers a digital way to access the pass and reduces the need to buy individual tickets for every journey. The reported 10% saving applies to the Trip Pass facility.

NCRTC has included different journey quantities in the offering. A 10-trip pass cannot be refunded, while 15-, 20- and 40-trip passes can be refunded after a deduction of Rs 200 as an administrative charge. Passengers can therefore choose between a smaller commitment for immediate travel needs and larger bundles that provide more journeys, subject to the applicable refund conditions.

The facility comes as Namo Bharat passengers have sought more affordable and flexible options for frequent travel. The report also refers to demands from daily commuters for extended services beyond 10 pm and for a monthly pass. The Trip Pass does not amount to an unlimited monthly ticket; it provides a defined number of journeys between selected stations.

For the regional rail system, the change places greater emphasis on repeat-use products alongside single-journey tickets. Its practical benefit will depend on how closely a passenger’s regular route matches the two-station restriction and how often the service is used. NCRTC’s stated offering currently covers one to 40 trips across both coach categories, with the refund conditions varying according to the selected pass.

The Trip Pass is now available to Namo Bharat passengers through the NCMC-linked system. Further details on the selected route, number of journeys, coach category and applicable refund rules will determine the final cost for each commuter.
