Mysuru Yuva Dasara will be held from October 13 to 17 near Uttanahalli on the outskirts of Mysuru, with a 14-acre event area, major music performances, a food festival and enhanced security arrangements, organisers said at a press conference on Monday.
The festival will be inaugurated at 6.30 pm on October 13 by actor Prabhu Deva. Karnataka Minister in charge of Mysuru district, Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, will attend as the chief guest, while MLA G.T. Devegowda will preside over the opening programme, according to deputy special officer Mallikarjun Baladandi and working president J. Somashekar.
The opening evening will feature a music programme by music composer and performer Ajaneesh Loknath’s team. The schedule includes Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy on October 14, playback singer Sid Sriram on October 15, and a Sandalwood night on October 16 featuring actors including Shivarajkumar and Rachita Ram. Singer Jasmine Sandlas is scheduled to perform on October 17.
Organisers said an 80-by-60-foot main stage has been constructed at the venue. The event will use a d&b audiotechnik sound system based on German technology, a DiGiCo Quantum mixer, advanced lighting and laser systems. The arrangements are intended to provide sound and lighting suitable for large-scale international music programmes, they said.
The size of the venue and the expected turnout have led organisers to place crowd safety and movement management among the main operational priorities. Police arrangements will include personnel from the Karnataka State Reserve Police, the District Armed Reserve, the Quick Reaction Team and the Home Guards. Drones and closed-circuit television cameras will also be used for surveillance, organisers said.
The event is being presented as a platform bringing youth talent, music, art, culture and entertainment together. Organisers said the festival is also intended to support tourism and economic activity in Mysuru. More than 100 stalls will be part of the food festival, offering South Indian and North Indian dishes.
The event’s administrative structure includes a non-official committee under the sub-committee. Rayarahundi Ravi has been appointed as its chairman, while 187 members will work on the arrangements, organisers said.
An album song for Yuva Dasara was also released at the press conference. Its lyrics were written by G.S. Somashekar and Manoj Saugandh, with music composed by Ajaneesh Loknath. The festival is scheduled to continue with evening entertainment programmes at the Uttanahalli venue through October 17.
