Mysuru Traffic Restrictions Extended Till October 31 for Dasara

Mysuru police have extended traffic and parking restrictions across key parts of the city until October 31 because of the prolonged Dasara 2026 illumination, with special regulations in force every day from 3pm to midnight.

The measures are intended to manage increased vehicle movement, reduce congestion and maintain public safety around Mysuru Palace and other visitor-heavy areas. The order has been issued by city police chief Seema Latkar under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the Karnataka Traffic Control Act, 1960.

Under the revised arrangements, an anticlockwise one-way traffic system will operate around Mysuru Palace. The regulated circuit includes Chamaraja Wadiyar Circle, KR Circle, New Sayyaji Rao Road, Rachaiah Circle, Basaveshwara Circle, Gun House, Wrestling Akhada Junction, BN Road, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle and Albert Victor Road.

A separate clockwise traffic system will be implemented around Big Clock Tower, Ashoka Road, Irwin Road and Nehru Circle. One-way movement will also apply on Old Bank Road, Ashoka Road, Banumaiah Road, Thyagaraja Road, Lokaranjan Road, Shalivahana Road and Ramanuja Road during the specified hours.

Parking will be prohibited on both sides of several major roads. The restrictions cover roads around the Palace, Sayyaji Rao Road, JLB Road, MG Road, BN Road, Ashoka Road and Nelson Mandela Road. Parking controls will also apply near Mysuru Zoo and the Exhibition Grounds, which are expected to draw visitors during the illumination period.

The extended measures place the Palace precinct and adjoining arterial roads under coordinated traffic control rather than relying only on local diversions. For motorists, this means that routes normally used to cross central Mysuru may operate in a single direction or may have no-parking restrictions during the evening and night window.

The police have asked motorists and visitors to follow traffic signs and instructions from traffic personnel. The restrictions will remain in force daily from 3pm to midnight through October 31, according to the order issued for the extended Dasara illumination arrangements.
