Mysuru Road Crash Kills Two Young Relatives After Dasara Visit

A Mysuru Road crash killed two young relatives early Thursday after their motorcycle hit an electric pole near Mylasandra Junction in Bengaluru, while they were returning from Mysuru after watching the Dasara Jamboo Savari. The accident occurred at about 2.30am within the jurisdiction of the Kengeri traffic police station.

The victims were identified as Rajath, 21, and Nagendra, 20. According to the report, Rajath ran a grocery store, while Nagendra was a diploma holder who had come to Bengaluru from Shivamogga for an internship. He was staying at Rajath’s house in Goraguntepalya.

The two had travelled to Mysuru on a motorcycle to watch the Dasara procession. While returning, they lost control of the bike and crashed into an electric pole near Mylasandra Junction. The impact threw both riders onto the road.

Rajath, who was riding the motorcycle, died at the scene. Nagendra suffered serious injuries and died while being taken to hospital, the report said.

The crash took place during the early-morning hours after the two had completed their return journey from Mysuru. The location falls on the Bengaluru–Mysuru road corridor, which carries traffic between the city and Mysuru and includes busy junctions and stretches used by commuters and long-distance travellers.

A senior officer from the Kengeri traffic police told the Times of India that it was not yet clear whether both men were wearing helmets. “We are not sure if both were wearing helmets. We will check CCTV footage,” the officer said.

The planned CCTV review is expected to help investigators establish the circumstances leading to the crash, including the movements of the motorcycle before it hit the pole and whether helmet use can be confirmed. The supplied report did not provide further details about the motorcycle’s speed, road conditions, lighting, or any other vehicle being involved.

The deaths bring the focus to the risks faced by two-wheeler users on Bengaluru’s arterial roads, particularly during late-night and early-morning travel. In this case, police have so far described the incident as a loss-of-control crash, while the investigation into the precise sequence of events remains underway.

Kengeri traffic police are expected to examine CCTV footage as part of the investigation. Further details on the crash will depend on the findings of the police inquiry and the footage review.
